I help nonprofits and educational institutions turn complex ideas into messages people understand. Twenty years in, I’ve learned the hard part is rarely the writing alone. It’s also the decisions underneath it — what to say, what to leave out, how to bring people along. That’s the part I’m good at.

Where I help most

Launching a program. Redesigning a website. Rewriting messaging that no longer fits where your organization is now. These are the moments when getting communications right pays off for years, and the ones where it helps to have someone who has done it before and can tell you what tends to work.

What you get isn’t a template with your logo dropped in. It’s a plan built around your actual staffing, your actual budget and the people who’ll need to weigh in.

You’ll get real advice

Every organization is different. What you’ll get is someone who listens first and then brings you a clear recommendation — grounded in your goals, your audience and what I’ve seen work elsewhere. Not a menu of options for you to sort through on your own.

I’ve done this inside DC agencies, at Johns Hopkins, at the National Federation of the Blind and at RAINN, which means I’ve sat on your side of the table. I know how review cycles, competing priorities and limited hours shape what’s possible, and I know how to do strong work inside those realities.

I’m in Baltimore, I’ve worked in these sectors my whole career, and I make things that are smart, polished and usable on Monday morning.

Let’s connect

If you’ve got a project you’re noodling, let’s talk about it. Twenty minutes on the phone can make the shape of it a lot clearer.
